Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember information about your visit — like your preferences or login state — so you don't have to re-enter it every time. Some cookies last only as long as your browser session; others persist on your device until they expire or you delete them.

How we use cookies

GriffinGuard uses cookies to keep the site working, remember your settings, and understand how people use our platform so we can improve it. We only set non-essential cookies where we have a lawful basis to do so.

Strictly necessary

Always active

Required for core functionality — authentication, security tokens, and session management. The site cannot work properly without them, so they cannot be turned off.

  • session_id — keeps you logged in during a browser session.
  • csrf_token — prevents cross-site request forgery.

Functional

Remember choices you make — such as your preferred dashboard layout or filter state — so your experience is consistent across visits.

  • gg_prefs — stores UI preferences. Expires after 1 year.

Analytics

Help us understand which features get used and where people run into problems. All data collected is anonymised — we cannot identify individual users from it.

  • _gg_analytics — anonymous page-view and event tracking. Expires after 2 years.

Marketing

We do not currently use advertising or retargeting cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated and we will ask for your consent before placing any.

Third-party cookies on our site

We work with a small number of trusted third-party providers — for example, our payment processor and infrastructure partners — who may set their own cookies to deliver the services they provide on our behalf. These cookies may allow those providers to recognise your device on other websites that use the same services.

Because we have no direct control over third-party cookies, they fall outside the scope of this policy. We encourage you to check the relevant provider's own cookie or privacy policy for details.

How we approach third-party privacy

Before integrating any third-party service, we review its privacy and data practices to ensure they meet our standards. We will not knowingly work with providers whose practices compromise the privacy of our users or conflict with this policy.

How to control and opt out of cookies

You are in control. Here are the main ways to manage cookies on our site:

  • Browser settings — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Search your browser's help pages for "cookies" to find the relevant settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the site from working correctly.
  • Multiple devices — browser settings apply per-device. If you use GriffinGuard on more than one device, you'll need to update your preferences on each one separately.
  • Analytics opt-out — you can opt out of anonymous analytics tracking using privacy-focused browser extensions that block tracking scripts.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page whenever our cookie practices change. The date at the top always reflects when this policy was last revised — check back periodically if you want to stay informed.
